So,
what happened on the day you took your flight? |
| Marie |
I didn't really know way was going on.
My mom woke me up at 2:00 A.M. and I'm like, huh?? My
suitcase was packed and she's like, "It's time to go!" |

Were
you nervous? |
| Marie |
I was because my mom wouldn't tell me
anything. |
| MPA |
When
did you realize you were going to the Miss Plus America Pageant? |
| Marie |
When we arrived at the layover.
Mom told me we were going to a pageant but she wouldn't tell me
why or what kind of pageant. I didn't realize it was the
Miss Plus America pageant until we got to the hotel and I saw
all of the state queens walking around in their crowns and
banners. |

Did
you have any clue you were going to be crowned? |
| Marie |
I had no clue I was gonna get crowned!
I couldn't believe it when they called my name to come on stage!
But I was told that I did a perfect pageant wave! |

What'd
you think when they brought out the crown and banner and put the
crown on your head? |
| Marie |
I was surprised and happy! LOL! |

Did
you meet any interesting people? |
| Marie |
Everyone I met was great I love
them all. |

What
did you like most about the pageant? |
| Marie |
What I liked most was that everyone was
so loving and nice. |

Now
that you're an official MPA National Titleholder, what plans do
you have to help your community? |
| Marie |
I plan to help other kids who have gone
what I have gone through like MPA has helped me. |

Are
you coming back next year? |
| Marie |
Absolutely! I am going back next
year to see my new family! |

Anything you'd like to say to your mom? |

Marie |
I would like to tell my mom that I
love her and because of her support, I know I can live through
any thing; and sometimes we might fight, but I love her more
than anything in the world. I want to be a role model to
my kids the way my mom is my role model ti me, because she is
loving and I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world

Do you have anything to say to your
"friends" at school? |

I would like to thank them; because
of them, I have met MPA and have made new friends and family
|
EXPLANATION
OF THE LAST QUESTION
A few months ago, Marie
Gray, a freshman, opened her first high-school yearbook to find her
name written on a page with a derogatory expletive concerning her
weight, written underneath. This was published in every
yearbook and everyone in the school saw it. She was devastated
and horribly embarrassed. A local news-channel interviewed her
and CNN broke the story on a national scale. The yearbook is
being reprinted but the scars of that day will always be there.
Steph DeWaegeneer,
former Ms Texas Plus America and newly crowned Ms Plus America
posted a link to her story on the delegate forum. I
immediately contacted the news reporter that broke the story in
order to contact her mother in an effort to bring Marie to the
pageant to encourage her and to give her, her very own MPA
experience.

her mother, Rae, Shelly's Pageant Express, for hair and make-up,
Deidra Foley Brazell for help in procuring her finals night dress

to all of the 2009 state delegates who hugged on her and loved on
her, encouraged her and made her feel special!
Marie is our little
sister and a part of our sorority forever. This is what MPA is
all about!

July Diary Entry
Hi!I am Miss
Teen Plus America Ambassador, Marie Gray and I am writing my
very first diary entry. Actually, this is my first diary at
all because I really never kept one before. I would like to
thank MPA and would like I also thank Dillard's or making my first
MPA pageant very special and making me feel like a princess the
night of the Royal Ball (like Cinderella)... hehehe
Well that's enough for this time I plan
on writing often and I am trying to get my website started so when
I do I will let you know :)
